95°C heat resistance: confirm the product and test conditions

What to check when selecting, forming and validating products for 95°C heat-resistant applications.

Green Free Plast’s material development includes applications targeting 95°C heat resistance. Read this information alongside the specific grade and test documentation. It does not mean every formulation, thickness or finished product is suitable for prolonged use at that temperature.
Keep different thermal measurements separate
Glass transition, heat-deflection testing and finished-product use tests describe different behavior. Load, duration, medium and acceptance criteria influence the results. One temperature also cannot describe all PLA, PBAT or starch-based materials.
Specify the project conditions
- Material grade, formulation, geometry and thickness.
- Processing method, tooling and any required post-treatment.
- Contact temperature, duration, load and use medium.
- Test method, acceptance criteria and corresponding report.
Select the material for the actual use, prepare samples and verify deformation, strength and applicable food-contact requirements on the finished product. Review heat resistance separately from compostability or biodegradation; one result does not establish the other.
